Eclectic Carmel Nightlife
It might be true that we're an early-to-bed, early-to-rise kind of town, but Carmel's classy yet eclectic night scene will surprise you with a mix of unique discoveries around every corner.
The evening starts with Happy Hours, and Carmel-by-the-Sea boasts some great ones. Il Fornaio in the Pine Inn—home of Carmel's longest bar—offers great deals on cocktails and wines, along with a selection of gourmet noshes. For canine lovers, Terry's Lounge at the Cypress Inn is a great place to bring your pooch and enjoy exceptional beverages and a selection of tasty treats for you and your four-legged friend. Links Club offers happy hour Monday-Friday 3-5 pm with discounts on craft beer on tap and local wines, all while you play the area's iconic golf courses no matter what the weather or time of day... But rather on the Links Club virtual screens. And later in the eve enjoy more fun with trivia nights, karaoke and live music.
When the lights go down, the vibe fires up at Vesuvio's hip rooftop bar. Firepits and heat lamps keep the ocean's cool at bay, and the bar serves up some of the most innovative libations in town. Barmel offers live music with a casual Big Sur attitude most weekday evenings from 7-9 pm and cranks up the tunes 'til late on weekends. Fans of margaritas and Mexican munchies flock to Cultura, and fun and friendly A.W. Shucks is a great spot for oysters and Bloody Marys.
Local's Tip
No Carmel pub crawl is complete without a stop at Sade's, Carmel's last old-skool watering hole. Sade's is the last word in dive bars. Leave your credit card in your pocket and your cares at the door, because this saloon takes only cash. It's always full of friendly locals who welcome visitors to join the scene.
