Der Ling Lane & Passageway

Der Ling Lane is considered to be the oldest public alley in Carmel. As you enter from Ocean Avenue the store on your right was originally a gift shop owned by Adolf and Hallie Lafrenz who befriended the Chinese princess Der Ling. They named their storybook-styled shop in her honor. The Lafrenz home was located at the end of the wood arched, old Carmel stone pathway full of flowers, small benches and the lure of a very secret garden.
