Carmel-by-the-Sea is well known as a hangout for celebrities of all types, especially film stars. The late Doris Day was one of those screen idols and she so fell in love with Carmel that she not only lived here, she also purchased the iconic and historic Cypress Inn. Terry's Lounge is named in honor of her son, record producer Terry Melcher.
Terry's has a cozy atmosphere and it's also a great place to meet locals. Doris was famous for her love of four-legged friends, and that love extends to Terry's reputation as a premier spot to bring canines along.
Of course, humans are well cared for also. Menu highlights include Breaded and Pan-Seared Fresh Monterey Sanddabs with a Tarragon Cream Sauce, Doris Day's Favorite Chicken Salad with Capers, Water Chestnuts and Mayonnaise served in a Lettuce Cup and the Cypress Burger (billed as "the Best Burger in Carmel"). Lunch and dinner are served either inside in the bar and dining room which feature vintage movie posters, or al fresco on a beautiful, heated outdoor deck with fireplace. As for beverages, Terry's Lounge mixologists craft a wide range of signature cocktails, many inspired by Doris Day's movie-star friends. There's also an extensive wine list to complement any meal. True to its namesake and his singer-turned-movie-star mother, Terry's Lounge features live music Thursday through Sunday performed by talented Carmel-area musicians.
Open for lunch and dinner, 11:30-8:30pm Monday - Saturday and 11:00-8:30 on Sunday.

Blair Wines, Wrath Wines and Bernardus Winery take center stage for a September celebration of Central Coast wine at Terry's Restaurant + Lounge
Cypress Inn is raising a glass to California Wine Month this September with a spirited series of wine evenings celebrating some of the Central Coast's standout wineries at Terry's Restaurant + Lounge.
Three Wednesdays. Three celebrated local wineries. One very Carmel way to toast California wine.
Guests are invited to settle in, discover new favorites, mingle with fellow wine lovers and enjoy special pours from Blair Wines, Wrath Wines and Bernardus Winery throughout September.

Wednesday, Sept. 16, 4-5pm — Blair Wines
Kick off the series with Blair Wines and a taste of Monterey County wine country in the heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea.
Wednesday, Sept. 23, 4-5pm — Wrath Wines
Raise a glass with Wrath Wines and discover wines inspired by the cool-climate vineyards of the Monterey region.
Wednesday, Sept. 30, 4-5pm — Bernardus Winery
Close out California Wine Month with Bernardus Winery and a final toast to the people, vineyards and wines that make the Central Coast such an extraordinary wine destination.
September is harvest season on the Central Coast, making it an especially fitting time to celebrate the region's vineyards and winemakers. At Cypress Inn, the month is less about formal wine tasting and more about what great wine has always done best — bringing people together.
