WINE TASTING

Carmel Wine Walk by-the-Sea Passport is a great wine tasting experience at seven Carmel tasting rooms. Each passport tasting room will welcome you and offer restaurant recommendations. Corkage is waived at participating restaurants for one bottle per visit, per party. The passport is a $70 value. Passports are available at the Carmel Visitor Center on San Carlos between 5th and 6th or call (800) 550-4333.

Galante Vineyards has been producing ultra-premium, 100% estate grown wines since 1994, with a simple philosophy: grow the finest grapes and let the fruit express itself in the wine. Galante has a reputation for producing some of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc in Monterey County.

Caraccioli Cellars presents distinctive sparkling and still wines through the utilization of top-tier grapes from the Santa Lucia Highlands. This family run winery and tasting room strive to highlight the quality of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes by developing "fruit forward" still and sparkle varietals.

Vino Napoli is a stylish, Italian-themed wine bar, shop and tasting room. Wines featured are house Pepe Wines and specially selected wines from partners and close friends of owner and winemaker Rich Pepe. Light appetizers are offered and the tables at Vino Napoli overlook charming Dolores Street and encourage you to relax with friends or family while you converse about wines and life.

Wrath Wines produces site-driven Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc from their sustainable estate vineyard and selected properties in the Santa Lucia Highlands. Wrath's tasting room is located on Carmel Plaza's ground level and offers a classic wine tasting environment with a friendly atmosphere.

Scheid Vineyards produces small lot, sustainable wines in the heart of Monterey County. With ten estate vineyards, many different varieties are grown in a spectrum of styles. From a bright, tropical Chardonnay to the velvety, berry Pinot Noir, each wine is handcrafted to showcase the varietal character of the grapes.

This tasting bar is a celebration of art and wine and is located inside Winfield Gallery on Dolores Street. Visitors will enjoy a one-of-a-kind tasting experience that touches all five senses. Figge Cellars specializes in offering vineyard-designated, small-lot production wines, where the care and passion devoted to each grape can be tasted in every sip.

The Heart of the Highlands, Manzoni offers limited production Santa Lucia Highlands wines from their home estate and respected, neighboring growers.

Neilson Brothers Markets features wines from small, select boutiques and private California limited production wineries. It feels like a cellar yet has modern and easy access to over 10,000 bottles of the finest wines of the world. The friendly and knowledgeable staff is there to assist you and answer any questions you may have.

Tudor Wines in Andre Bouche Restaurant where they select fruit from family owned vineyards and transform it into wine using traditional techniques. These include small fermentations mixed by hand and aged in French barrels. The resulting wine has a purity of natural expression that cannot be duplicated on a larger scale.

The Cheese Shop carries a cornucopia of cheeses and wines from around the world, with special emphasis to the great wines made here in Carmel Valley and Monterey County. Such wineries as Talbott, Morgan, Lucia (Pisoni), Roar, Pelerin, Galante, Arcadian, Talley, Miura (w/ Almvs & Antiqvs), Gruet, and some special ones (by employees, current and former) like White Barn, Krutz Family Cellars and Sheldon are featured at length.

At Trio Carmel you'll sample incredible olive oils and balsamic vinegars, taste small-estate Monterey County wines from passionate winemakers, and enjoy contemporary art from local and International artists. Trio Carmel has chosen three wineries to offer for tasting, including Pelerin, Chualar Canyon, and Mesa Del Sol wines. Every Friday from 3-7pm, you can “Meet the Winemaker” to learn about their unique style of winemaking and taste a good selection of their wines.

Enjoy tasting small boutique wines from Northern and Central California, sample a range of specialty foods, and enjoy more than 60 olive oils and vinegars from around the world at Bountiful Basket's tasting room that's open daily.

Southern Latitudes Wines specializes exclusively in the wines of Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, South Africa and Chile and offers a tasting menu that consists of five or six wines and changes every other day. Two ounce tasting pours are offered. Costs range from $11 - $15 for the flight, while a shorter series of three selections is usually offered for $6 per flight. A la carte tasting is also available by choosing individual wine tastes for an individual tasting price (which is based on the price of the bottle). People are welcome to share their flights, and discounts are offered on purchases of wine on the tasting menu.

Constance Wine Bar is an intimate and cozy wine bar in the heart of Carmel next to the popular Greek restaurant Demetra. At Constance you can taste wines off the long list, drink by the glass, or purchase a bottle to enjoy with friends, choosing from a large array of different vintages.

The charming Franscioni Wines tasting room is located next to the historic Tuck Box and offers half and full glasses of wine and serves snacks prepared by the Tuck Box. The wines are handcrafted, estate varietals made by winemaker David Coventry and include Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Santa Lucia Chard and Pinot and a range of Bourdeaux varietals such as Petit Verdot, Cabernet, Cab Franc, Merlot, and Malbec.
