Haunted by the past, the present, and the looming future, the Wingfield family comes to life on the Golden Bough stage …Awarded Best Play by the New York Drama Critics’ Circle, The Glass Menagerie is Tennessee Williams' most deeply personal and haunting play. The author of A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and arguably our nation’s most important playwright, Williams draws his characters with a sensitivity that is unmatched. Amanda Wingfield, a faded Southern belle, longs for her youth and dreams of a better life for her children. At times both funny and heartbreaking, she pushes them to be more successful—in life and love. When her son Tom—a would–be poet and the story’s narrator— brings home a gentleman caller, his sister Laura is given hope. Their chance meeting becomes one of the sweetest and most heartbreaking stories ever told. Tennessee Williams' masterpiece is a touching tale of lost dreams, family bonds and survival. Artistic Director Kenneth Kelleher brings an imaginative and intimate take on one of the most beautiful dramas in American theatre.

PacRep Theatre's summer fundraiser and gala event, “A Night in Neverland” at the Ferrantes Ballroom at the top of the Marriott Hotel, 350 Calle Principal, Monterey, from 6:00pm to 10:00pm on Saturday, June 22, 2013. Fifteen Fantasy Auction items will be offered, including a prestigious 10-day Holland America Cruise anywhere in the world, chef-hosted dinners, and a private performance by noted Opera singers Susanne Mentzer and Reg Huston.

 
An adventurous and enchanting evening is planned for this one-night-only event featuring a custom themed three-course gourmet dinner, fine wines, Live and SuperSilent Auctions, PacRep entertainers, and dancing to the Scott Brown Ensemble.  Proceeds from the event will benefit the non-profit programs of PacRep Theatre, the only year-round professional theatre in the Central Coast region. Underwriting opportunities for PacRep's summer production of "Peter Pan" will also be offered.

The Doors Live at the Bowl ’68 is widely held as the band’s best performance ever captured on film. Now for the first time fans can watch the complete version in digitally re–mastered glory as the entire concert has been carefully restored from the original camera negatives to include the lost performances of “Hello I Love You”, “Texas Radio” and “The Big Beat” and “Spanish Caravan”. The film opens with a special feature of interviews with the band talking about what it meant to perform at the Hollywood Bowl and the enduring significance of this concert. More than 40 years after their debut album, The Doors’ music and legacy are more influential than ever before. Though they’ve had scores of imitators, there's never been another band quite like them and this film will appeal to their many fans – both their original followers and a younger generation discovering The Doors now. Captured from the Salzburg Festival in August 2012, under the direction of Jens-Daniel Herzog and conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt is Mozart's The Magic Flute, sung in German. This colorful parade of wild and whimsical characters - from the high-flying coloratura of the Queen of the Night to Papageno and his flighty bird songs, makes The Magic Flute is truly a magical opera! This summer marks the long awaited return of Travis Poelle, as the iconic “Buddy Holly”, in a new tribute concert featuring the classic hits of not only Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, Little Richard and other 50' icons, but also expanding into the 1960's with the music of Simon & Garfunkle, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, and more! The Rolling Stones: Some Girls, live in Texas is a never-seen-before concert movie which captures this world famous band at the height of their musical career featuring many Stones’ classics including “Honky Tonk Woman”, “Tumbling Dice”, “Brown Sugar”, “Jumpin Jack Flash”, “Miss You” and “Beast of Burden”. Shot on 16mm at Fort Worth, Texas in 1978, the film has been upgraded to high definition with a 5.1 audio track. It opens with a Sir Mick Jagger interview filmed in August 2011 where he introduces the concert and offers an insight into its significance in the band’s history. (Running time: 100 min.)

New Blood Live in London captures Peter Gabriel performing live with the 46 piece New Blood Orchestra at Hammersmith Apollo Theatre. The repertoire mixes cover versions from his "Scratch My Back" album with classic tracks from across his solo career in brand new orchestral arrangements. Gabriel is a renowned live performer and his onstage charisma and instantly recognizable voice combine brilliantly with the orchestral sound palette to breathe a new sense of wonder into familiar songs. As you would expect the concert is also a visual feast, with graphics, animation and imagery blending to enhance and illustrate the music. (Running time: 103 min.)

THE IMAGINARY INVALID by Molière Adapted by Constance Congdon Sept 5 - 29, Circle Theatre • Directed by Kenneth Kelleher - Carmel Shakespeare Festival "A source of some of the most hilariously over-the-top comedic characters in dramatic literature, The Imaginary Invalid lampoons the 17th-century health care industry..." Molière's zany satire on the world of medicine - the questionable cures and the outrageous costs - is a swirl of romantic triangles, double entendres and mistaken identities.  To quell his growing pile of medical bills, Monsieur Argan, a chronic hypochondriac, will go to any length to marry his daughter off to a doctor. Of course, his daughter has other ideas. Playwright Constance Congdon (author of last season‘s A Conversation with Georgia O’Keeffe) brings a full dose of her own brand of contemporary insanity, promising to leave you gasping, giggling and possibly…in stitches! 

Carmen at the Opera de Paris: Carmen has lust, betrayal, and murder - not to mention some of the most famous music in the history of opera. Anna Caterina Antonacci is "in her prime...a musically intelligent and vocally splendid singer" (NY Times); she tackles the title role with fire and intensity in this spectacular production from the Opera de Paris. (Running time: 190 min.)

Shakespeare's magical romantic comedy about confused lovers, warring fairies, and terrible actors... Weaving three stories of love, magic and perception in a moonlit forest on a midsummer night, Shakespeare’s fantastical play remains an audience favorite, especially at Carmel's enchanted Outdoor Forest Theater. The story - Lysander loves Hermia and Hermia loves Lysander. Helena loves Demetrius; Demetrius used to love Helena but now loves Hermia. They all flee to surrounding forest where a troupe of bad actors are rehearsing a play, and where Oberon and Titania, the King and Queen of the Fairies are having their own battle of love. As the human and magical worlds collide, mischief and chaos erupt! Love at first sight proves a reality for some and makes an ass of others! PacRep's A Midsummer Night's Dream will delight the entire family.

In 1958, Jerome Robbins’ “ballet in sneakers,” NY Export: Opus Jazz, became a smash hit when it was broadcast on The Ed Sullivan Show and toured around the world. Set to an evocative jazz score by Robert Prince, the dance told the story of disaffected urban youth through movement that blended ballet, jazz and ballroom dancing. Now, the work comes full circle in this vibrant scripted film adaptation, the first film to return Jerome Robbins' choreography to the city that inspired it since the movie version of West Side Story. Shot on location on New York City and featuring an ensemble cast of New York City Ballet dancers, NY Export: Opus Jazz re-imagines the original ballet for a whole new generation. Along with the dance film is a documentary where dance luminaries speak to the extraordinary history of the piece, while stylized screen tests of the cast of young New York City Ballet dancers reveal the enduring significance and appeal of the ballet. NY Export: Opus Jazz aired nationally on PBS' Great Performances series and was nominated for the Rose d'Or Award. 

From the Opera de Paris captured live on April 22, 2013, this charming production sung in French is lead by Conductor Claus Peter Flor and directed by Mariame Clement, featuring Daniela Sindram and Anne-Catherine Gillet.  The Classic fairy tale of two sweets-loving children, one hungry witch, is brought to life with an operatic twist in this family favorite. (Running time: approx 109 min.)

Flamenco Hoy, directed by the celebrated film maestro Carlos Saura, is a spectacular showcase of flamenco with breathtaking dance, dynamic music, and soul-searing singing.

Featuring 20 of Spain’s most exciting artists from the new generation of flamenco, dramatic choreography by Rafael Estevez and Nani Panos, and musical direction by the electrifying pianist Chano Dominguez, this dazzling show takes the audience into the heart of flamenco today with their energetic performances. (Running time: 100 min.)
